THE WORST FLOORING!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased almost $3000 worth of the Vinyl Laminate flooring from shaw to do do my living room and another large room in about seven months ago and I cannot express how worthless this product is. We installed these flat vinyl WATERPROOF planks in about two days total but it didn't take long for my husband and I to have some serious issues with this flooring. About a week after install I noticed the floor starting to wave. Come to find out, this flooring cannot be exposed to direct sunlight or it warps!! I filed a claim with shaw and they sent out a rep to check it out. Shaw never did directly respond to the claim. I had to call Lowes (where I purchased the flooring) to ask what the verdict on the claim ended up being. To my surprise shaw claimed that it was a moisture issue that made the VINYL WATERPROOF flooring wave. I live by a lake which is EXACTLY why the Lowes rep recommended this particular product to us! I was also present during the evaluation that the shaw rep did and seen the moisture reading measured very low. Unknown to them I had done a little science experiment on my own and submerged a sample piece of the exact flooring in a bucket of water overnight to see what the flooring would do. It was not harmed in any way BUT when exposed to sunlight it would warp up. Lowes eventually replaced the product in the room I was having issues with carpet instead. Although, now I am experiencing separation between the planks I have in my living room!! I suppose you can't move furniture on this flooring either because the planks will pull apart from one another!!!! This flooring is by far the biggest waste of my money! I wish I never would have been recommended this flooring! Shame on this company for not doing the right thing by their consumers!! I will NEVER buy anything from this company in the future. Nor would I recommend it to anyone!

SHAW POOR QUALITY PRODUCT

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I just redid the flooring in my house. I put in all wood flooring using SHAW product. I was HORRIFIED when i opened numerous cartons with 90% of nothing but 10-14 inch boards. I will not have a floor made up of nothing but 10-14 inch boards. This not to mention the other cartons that had short boards mixed in random lengths which we mixed in while installing. But to be STUCK WITH numerous cartons of NOTING BUT 10-14 inch boards, which SHAW says meets their standard..LOW STANDARD!! Please always open and check each carton of SHAW FLOORING to make sure you DON'T GET STUCK WITH SHAW POOR QUALITY WOOD FLOORING!!!!!!!!

My floor was bought an installed by their authorized dealer. This was installed in a 600 sq ft guest house, water is located on only one wall, about 3 ft apart.

Although the damage is not in this area at all, the dealer insisted it was water damage.

They are now out of business, and we're out of luck. My floor lasted only a few weeks.

My Shaw floor with a lifetime guarantee was worthless within days of installation.

Bought floor from N. August carpet and floors. Floor was bubbling in a week, and chipping. Also couldn't install myself, which I was told I could since I have put down many laminated floors. No one can. Call the store the lady came out, said water damage. How do I have water damage with no water, one door to enter and it's under a porch?

Told me to give it a couple of weeks. Then they are out of business.

Who will fix my floor? Also can't help but notice that there are no longer commercials for shaw flooring. I. WANT I FLOOR LIKE THAT,

What do I do to place a claim?

Shaw Industries does NOT uphold warranty on newer product! Buyer Beware!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm very unhappy with a product I had installed 7 months ago (HL255-High Country II, color #00839-Kings Canyon Cherry) that is warranted for 10 plus years. It has failed in 7 months and Shaw is refusing to uphold their warranty. The board are bubbling up in many places... Why have a warranty if it is not going to be upheld?

Before installing, my installers called Shaw directly to ask questions about the installation and they followed the instructions. Unfortunately, I did not have my installers write down the time, date and person they talked to at Shaw... so now I'm stuck dealing with this mess. Uggg.

We called Shaw directly and they required we go through our dealer to file a warranty issue claim. Luckily we bought from a dealer and not Home Depot or Lowes. So after calling our dealer, Shaw takes over a week and then they send out an independent wood inspector. He inspects the house and asks us about what temperature we keep the house and what we clean the floors with. Really?? We keep the house at 72 degrees and clean the floor with a mix of water and vinegar... normal mopping procedure for wood floors.

After all of that, we get this letter:

This letter is acknowledgment of a complaint registered against invoice #630****, dated 10/03/2014 style #HL255-High Country II, color #00839-Kings Canyon Cherry. The claim states concerns are raised/buckled boards. The material was independently inspected on 05/07/2015. The inspection report indicates the issues are installation related.

If it is an actual wood floor, you can not use water to clean it... that is not covered under warranty.

Water damage is never covered under warranty. People, don't buy laminate and use water on it.

Problem with VersaLock Shaw Industries

I purchased Shaw VersaLock laminate flooring on 12/27/11 (Shaw Industries) and installed in the middle of January 2012. At first I loved the flooring; the look of it, the ease of cleaning, etc. Until....my 9 year old boxer got ill. About 3 weeks ago, while at work, she peed on the floor (first time in years). Imagine my surprise when the flooring started warping and de-laminating. I contacted Menards where I purchased the flooring and they gave me a box of flooring to replace the pieces. Thank you Menards for stepping up to care for your customers.

My dog is on now started a new medication. On Sunday, March 18th at 2:30 am, I woke up to let the dogs out. Sometime after that, she vomited on the flooring. I cleaned it up immediately upon waking up and discovering it. Again, the flooring has warped and de-laminated.

It gets worse...When I contacted Shaw directly on Monday, March 19th at 9:30 am MST, I had the displeasure of speaking with one of their "Customer Care" representatives. She didn't provide her name and by the end of the call, I was so upset that I didn't ask for her name. She stated pet urine and vomit contains acid and is not covered under the 40-year warranty. The "customer care" representative had no empathy what-so-ever and cold face told me I was out of luck. What?! I purchased this flooring because of the "outstanding" warranty and great reviews from the experts at Menards.

After reviewing the insert included with the flooring, it states "use acetone/nail polish remover on a clean white cloth to clean tough spots such as oil, paint, markers, lipstick, ink, or tar." Isn't acetone, / nail polish remover, acid?

At 9:45 am MST, I contact Alisha Wood through Shaw through their instant messaging option on the Shaw website. She provided me with a copy of the 40-year warranty. No where within the warranty does it state anything about pets.

Only having this flooring installed for less than 2 months, I am really concerned with the longevity of this flooring. I would not recommend this flooring for anyone with kids, pets, or a life in general....their warranty doesn't appear to really cover anything. Below is a list of items not covered which is basically anything that could possibly happen. I have again contacted Menards. They seem to be more empathetic and willing to stand behind the product they sell then their manufacturers. I should hear back from Menards tomorrow. Again, thanks Menards and shame on you Shaw....consumer be aware.

I agree with everyone that dislikes this flooring. I spent $6ooo to do my whole home and every room has a problem.

I do my own yard work in Florida and if even one drop of sweat hits the floor it leaves a stain. I am a senior of 70 years of age and now I am saving to have another product put in and I will definitely do my home work before I make a choice of the name brand that I install

Mine is doing the same thing and they are giving me a big rash that *** about the warranty so sucks I will never buy another product from them ever again

Guest

I just bought 9 cartons, its awful. and I cant get a contractor to work with it.

its junk, don't waste your money. the company was absolutely no help at all.

Guest

Its not shaws fault… I have had many laminate floors, and the same...epileptic dog..that drools in seizure... Other than vinyl or a swimming pool coating ...its going to de/lam

I disagree. I installed a Pergo floor in my kitchen and no matter what I spilled on it it never warped or de-laminated.

This includes a spill from my dogs water dish which left water on the floor overnight. And the dog urinated on it at well because of medication it was on. Never had a problem.

My brand new Shaw floor warped and de-laminated from a little melted snow on shoes at my front door. The flooring is junk and I will never use it again.

I am in the same boat. Hate this product

Acetone (CH3COCH3) is not an acid. It is an organic solvent used for many purposes. Commonly used as a solvent in organic syntheses, the painting industry, etc.

Guest

Bought the Shaw laminate flooring because it was waterproof, and wouldn't bubble like traditional laminate flooring. To put it simply it is junk, garbage...etc.

Look at it wrong and it scratches, if the sun hits it it bubbles.

It looks great as long as you don't walk on it or open the curtains. In my opinion this is a scam by Shaw, no respectable manufacturer would produce a product like this, therefore it has to be a scam.

I agree with you. The company that installed my super duper shaw flooring is out of business and I can not contact any one to repair the floor, it is also separated in spots and when we called Shaw about it they told us to get in touch with the company that installed the floor because they have to complain to Shaw not us. Not very happy with Shaw or the installer.

Guest

Actually, this flooring sucks. Warps easy, chips EASY, not durable.

The installation is also a fight.

The locking/snapping system isn't easy. I would also not recommend this flooring.

Shaw industries sold me defective flooring

I purchased 320 sq ft of shaw versalock flooring. this flooring would not lie down evenly as its locking system was defective. I proved this to be true by use of a micrometer and shaws own installation expert concurred with me that there is a problem with the flooring. I followed the instructions carefully. both sets. as there are two different sets of instructions with the flooring and yet a third on their website. shaws tech help line is useless and told me to put furniture on top of the imperfections to hide it. shaws ultimate position on this problem was "tough, you bought it, its yours"

You think YOU have it bad, this company allowed a supervisor who was also a cop to harass me in the workplace.

This went on for many months before I suffered a catastrophic injury in their warehouse that they suppressed through local controls.

Guest

Tim,

I am an associate at Shaw. I am sorry that you have experienced a problem with our products. I would like to help in resolving this problem. Can you provide me with information on where and when you purchased the flooring? You may email me directly at susan.rich@***.com.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.
